What is Property assessment?
A property assessment is a government estimate of your home's value, used to calculate your property taxes.
Definition
An assessment authority estimates your home's value, and your municipality applies a tax rate to it to determine your property tax bill. Assessments are updated periodically.
Your assessed value may differ from market value. If you believe it's inaccurate, you can usually appeal it.
